Discover how to tap into your extraordinary human capacity for connection and healing, using astonishing new findings about the miraculous power of group intention and its boomerang effect, in this new book by the author of the international bestsellers The Intention Experiment and The Field. What we send out into the universe comes back to us, magnified. Although the power of intention--the energy of positive thoughts--is widely accepted as an influential force in transforming lives, the exponential power of group intention has never been explored, until now. In The Power of Eight, Lynne McTaggart, an expert on the science of spirituality, reveals her remarkable findings from ten years of experiments about how group intention can heal our lives--and change the world for the better. When individuals in a group focus their intention together on a single target, a powerful collective dynamic emerges that can heal longstanding conditions, mend fractured relationships, lower violence, and even rekindle life purpose. But the greatest untold truth of all is that group intention has a mirror effect, not only affecting the recipient but also reflecting back on the senders. Drawing on hundreds of case studies, the latest brain research, and dozens of McTaggart's own university studies, The Power of Eight provides solid evidence showing that there is such a thing as a collective consciousness. Now you can learn to use it and unleash the power you hold inside of you to heal your own life, with help from this riveting, highly accessible new book. And you can join a series of worldwide Intention Experiments that will run on a major web television channel in 120 countries during the book's initial publication and afterward.

I knew Edward Monkton was going to be a success when people started e-mailing me daily saying that it touched their hearts, it made them think, and most important, it made them laugh out loud-again and again." –Giles Andreae

In the tradition of Jonathan Livingston Seagull comes The Pig of Happiness-a philosophizing porcine fellow with a penchant for spreading good cheer. Edward Monkton's philosophical piglet aspires to elevate the spirit and become the Pig of Happiness. His happiness is so big it seeps from inside him to all the other pigs and then to all the other animals in the barnyard. Monkton, perhaps better known as the U.K.'s top-selling living poet Giles Andreae, pairs a fresh illustrative style with simple yet profound prose to create this modern-day parable. Monkton's greeting cards and book titles have been a big hit in the U.K. His gift books are presented to the U.S. market by Andrews McMeel exclusively, while a complementary card line from Sunrise will be introduced in the summer of 2007.

This book is about enlightenment, spiritual awakening, self realization, meditation, awareness, consciousness, happiness, love, relationships, psychological suffering and human predicament. Based largely on actual dialogues between Francis Lucille, a spiritual teacher of non-duality, and some of his disciples, the music of freedom that it conveys resonates between the words, and gives the reader an inkling of the peace and happiness that are experienced in the presence of an authentic master. Francis Lucille was for over twenty years a close friend and disciple of Jean Klein, a well recognized French teacher of non-duality. They both belong to a lineage of Advaita Vedanta teachers stemming from India. (Advaita Vedanta is the main nondualist Hindu spiritual tradition). Jean Klein's guru, Pandit Veeraraghavachar, was a Professor at the Sanskrit College in Bengalore. Their teachings, despite some superficial similarities, are quite different from those of most contemporary western neo Advaita teachers. They emphasize for instance the importance of the direct transmission from guru to disciple, through presence, beyond words, and they recognize that the same universal truth was expressed by various saints, philosophers and teachers throughout history and across the world. That which matters here is not the form of the teaching, direct or gradual for instance, as much as the authenticity of the teacher, the vibrancy of his realization, the outpouring of his love, the freedom of his humour, the brilliancy of his intelligence, the splendor of his poetry, the spontaneous sharing of his peace. Nonduality is the common ground of Buddhism (especially Zen and Dzogchen), Advaita, Sufism, Taoism, the Kabbalah, the Gnosis and the teachings of Jesus in the Thomas Gospel, the teachings of Parmenides, Plotinus, Gaudapada, Abinavagupta, Meister Eckhart, Ramana Maharshi, Atmananda Krishna Menon, Ananda Mai and many others.

A self-defined misfit makes a powerful case for not fitting in--for recognizing the beauty, and difficulty, in forging an original path. A misfit is a person who missed fitting in, a person who fits in badly, or this: a person who is poorly adapted to new situations and environments. It's a shameful word, a word no one typically tries to own. Until now. Lidia Yuknavitch is a proud misfit. That wasn't always the case. It took Lidia a long time to not simply accept, but appreciate, her misfit status. Having flunked out of college twice (and maybe even a third time that she's not going to tell you about), with two epic divorces under her belt, an episode of rehab for drug use, and two stints in jail, she felt like she would never fit in. She was a hopeless misfit. She'd failed as daughter, wife, mother, scholar--and yet the dream of being a writer was stuck like "a small sad stone" in her throat. The feeling of not fitting in is universal. The Misfit's Manifesto is for misfits around the world--the rebels, the eccentrics, the oddballs, and anyone who has ever felt like she was messing up. It's Lidia's love letter to all those who can't ever seem to find the "right" path. She won't tell you how to stop being a misfit--quite the opposite. In her charming, poetic, funny, and frank style, Lidia will reveal why being a misfit is not something to overcome, but something to embrace. Lidia also encourages her fellow misfits not to be afraid of pursuing goals, how to stand up, how to ask for the things they want most. Misfits belong in the room, too, she reminds us, even if their path to that room is bumpy and winding. An important idea that transcends all cultures and countries, this book has created a brave and compassionate community for misfits, a place where everyone can belong.

The idea of a free gift economy has become important in the movement for alternative economics, however the connection with women and especially with mothers has not been widely understood. The conference "The Maternal Roots of the Gift Economy," held in Rome in 2015, brought together women and men from around the world to discuss this important issue. In a moment when the values of Patriarchy and the market seem to have triumphed, the values of mothering and care are more sorely needed than ever. This book explores many aspects of the gift paradigm from a variety of points of view, taking into account theory and practice, activism and spirituality, as well as the experience of Indigenous societies North and South where maternal values are still at the centre for both women and men. Readers will find abundant evidence of ways of thinking and being that are possible beyond the Patriarchal Capitalism that is now threatening the existence of life on Mother Earth.

This guide to the Japanese zodiac gives a complete explanation of all 12 animal years. Like people of the West, Eastern people have a zodiac. Unlike that of the West, however, the Eastern system has a cycle of twelve years instead of months. Each year of the cycle has its own particular animal symbol whose roots of meaning, origin, and influence stretch back to ancient India and China. One of the traditional Japanese stories pertaining to this zodiacal system and how it started runs as follows. On a certain New Year's Day, ages ago, Buddha called all the animals of the world to him. He promised that those who came to pay him homage would receive a gift for their fealty. As a mark of honor, they would be given a year which would thereafter be named for them. Of all the animals in the world, only these twelve came, and they came in this order: the rat and the ox, the tiger and the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, and the horse, the sheep and the monkey, the rooster, the dog, and the boar.

Awaken the elusive information within your Akash Have you ever wondered where your personality comes from? What about your fears and phobias? What creates a child prodigy? Is it possible that you have lived before? The answer to these questions and more is the purpose of this book. Australian author, Monika Muranyi, has compiled everything that Kryon has ever channelled about the Akash! For over twenty-four years the loving messages of Kryon, as given by Lee Carroll (the original Kryon channel) have become known world-wide. This book, second in the Kryon trilogy series, represents an amazing job of research that covers in detail the elusive information within your Akash and includes material never before been published by Kryon. In addition, she has posed over thirty new questions answered by Kryon. Thanks to her work we now have a greater understanding about the Human Akash, where it is, what it contains and how it can be mined. What is it you wish you could do? What are your blocks? What are the things that you think are you that can’t be changed? In the Akash, there is also you, many of them. Why don’t you go there and replace the current you with the former you? That is mining the Akash. That’s a quantum Human Being, and it goes way beyond what you were told past life energies were for. You were told they were for karmic exchange. It’s the old idea that past life experience builds up in your DNA so that you will be disturbed by it, so that it will become the sand in your oyster and then you have to accomplish something to get around it. It is very old information, and now you can go way beyond that. What if the whole reason for the Akash is just the opposite? What if it is a gold mine with your name on it? You lived all those lives. Think about that. It’s life experience; it’s wisdom, shaman. Now, go mine it. That’s what the quantum Human Being does. It creates mastery. Think about that. – Kryon

A compelling investigation into supernatural events and local lore on Vancouver Island.Vancouver Island is known worldwide for its arresting natural beauty, but those who live here know that it is also imbued with a palpable supernatural energy. Researcher Shanon Sinn found his curiosity piqued by stories of mysterious sightings on the island—ghosts, sasquatches, sea serpents—but he was disappointed in the sensational and sometimes disrespectful way they were being retold or revised. Acting on his desire to transform these stories from unsubstantiated gossip to thoroughly researched accounts, Sinn uncovered fascinating details, identified historical inconsistencies, and now retells these encounters as accurately as possible.Investigating 25 spellbinding tales that wind their way from the south end of the island to the north, Sinn explored hauntings in cities, in the forest, and on isolated logging roads. In addition to visiting castles, inns, and cemeteries, he followed the trail of spirits glimpsed on mountaintops, beaches, and water, and visited Heriot Bay Inn on Quadra Island and the Schooner Restaurant in Tofino to personally scrutinize reports of hauntings. Featuring First Nations stories from each of the three Indigenous groups who call Vancouver Island home—the Coast Salish, the Nuu-chah-nulth, and the Kwakwaka’wakw—the book includes an interview with Hereditary Chief James Swan of Ahousaht.
