La famille Gagnon ne risque-t-elle pas de se scinder face aux enjeux moraux et éthiques que pose l’obtention du contrat ? Qu’en pensent de leur côté Nancy, Anne-Marie, Isabelle et les autres belles-sœurs, qui sont peut-être les véritables piliers de cette histoire ? Corriger une vie mal engagée à coups de pouce sur son BlackBerry, revenir au point de départ et tenter de recommencer, voilà encore le propos de ce roman qui dépeint, sur fond de responsabilité et de frivolité, de cohésion familiale et de relations de couples, une certaine classe moyenne aisée du Québec contemporain.

Mère et grand-mère, Claudie Durand partage son temps entre sa famille, la nature et l'écriture, ce qui lui permet de donner vie aux personnages qui l'habitent depuis de nombreuses années. Elle signe ici un premier roman émouvant centré sur les tribulations d'une famille moderne.

On se cache dans un garage, on dort entassé sur la paille, on s’enfuit dans des rizières, on continue de travailler, de jouer, de se droguer, d’aller au restaurant, de rire, et on baise plus souvent qu’à l’habitude pour oublier ou faire semblant que la vie continue, on n’a plus de règles ni de contraintes, la honte et la peur du scandale ont disparu. Un roman hypnotisant qui allie l'historique et l’intime.
