Ernest Selby inherits Red Rock Ranch, but when he learns the herd has shrunk from 20,000 head to only 6,000 he suspects foul play. Posing as a cow hand he goes undercover on his own ranch to discover the truth. He learns to enjoy the cow hand's life, making friends and enemies and courting the haughty daughter of the crooked foreman but he knows his charade must end eventually when he can reveal the truth and claim the heart of Miss Anne Hepford.
