The world today is the richer by the many thousands of millions of trees planted as a direct result of the influence of one man – Richard St Barbe Baker. Throughout his long life he wrote many books and articles on trees. He travelled widely wherever the need to save forests or plant trees was greatest. Neither did he shun any opportunity to talk to groups and individuals about our need to replant desert land, and to care for all indigenous forests and woodlands. Then in his later years, encouraged by his wife Catriona, he wrote one last book. It’s about the people he met and whose influence assisted his journey through life.
