Thursday, January 19, 2017

The Nova Scotia government, in partnership with members of the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association, recently contributed 84 titles in EPUB formats to the NNELS database, highlighting works written and published in Atlantic Canada.

The titles include a range of fiction and non-fiction for readers of all ages, including adventure stories (The Lost Canoe: a Labrador Adventure), histories of displacement both new (Indian School Road: Legacies of the Shubenacadie Residential School) and old (Deportation of the Prince Edward Island Acadians), mysteries including one by the ever-wonderful Lesley Crewe (Shoot Me, and three other books by her), and loads of stories young people (Flying with a Broken Wing, Wereduck, Time Flies When You're Chasing Spies, and many more).

There are classics (The Nymph and the Lamp), contemporary dazzlers (Savage Love), and books from every single one of the Atlantic provinces, including Shattered City: the Halifax Explosion & the Road to Recovery, Bishop's Road from Newfoundland, New Brunswick : an Illustrated History, and I am an Islander from PEI.

And, of course, what collection of books from the East Coast would be complete without Rogues and Rascals, ghost stories (Bluenose ghosts, Ghost Boy of Mackenzie House, Wicked Woods: Ghost Stories from Old New Brunswick), pirates (Pirates of the North Atlantic, The Dread Crew: Pirates of the Backwoods), and Oak Island Gold? Not this one, we’re pleased to say.

The full list of titles can be found through the NNELS Collections page, or directly on the Atlantic Canadian Collection page.

For readers who would like the books in other formats, please use the Request Form and tell us what you're looking for. Tablets, smartphones, and newer DAISY players will be able to use these EPUB files. For help making the books work on your device, please contact NNELS Support.
