Offer of Alternative Format Materials

Forum:

Library Community,

To support the provision of library services to your community, each library can indicate in all printed communications that the library is able to provide documents (flyers, brochures, etc.) in formats which meet the patron’s needs.

The following statement can be printed on all documents published by the library:

“This document can be made available in alternative formats upon request, at no additional charge.”

This signifies to your patrons that if they have difficulty reading any documents you have published, that you are willing and able to work with them on producing accessible formats.

It is best to place the offer of alternative format in a highly visible area for patrons, preferabley in the inside cover of all documents.

When making your documents available in alternative formats remember to work closely with the individual, they know what they need in order to read and it is up to us to meet their need.
