"The Government of British Columbia is committed to developing new accessibility and inclusion legislation that will work to identify, remove and prevent barriers that impede the full participation of people with disabilities in their communities. Province-wide public consultations on the development of proposed legislation were held between Sept. 16 and Nov. 29, 2019...The proposed legislation would guide the development, implementation and enforcement of accessibility standards and would draw on the expertise and experience of people with disabilities. Accessibility standards could cover a variety of areas such as service delivery, education, employment, housing and the built environment, information and communication and transportation and would rely on having the appropriate mix of incentives, compliance and enforcement tools."
