Learn More About a Book

Last updated: April 3, 2023

If a title sounds intriguing and you want to know more, double-tap it. If it is an audiobook, you can swipe right through the next screen to find the summary and other information, like the publisher, release date, and length. You might observe VoiceOver unnecessarily repeating itself while browsing some information, but it is all readable. You will pass controls to “Borrow” or “Place Hold,” “Tag,” and perform other actions as you swipe, and you can return to them if you decide you want to read the book. If you’re not interested, you can return to browsing by double-tapping the back button in the top left corner of the screen or performing the standard two-finger scrub gesture.

If you know you want to read a book without needing more information about it, swipe right from its title until you find the “Borrow” or “Place Hold” button, and double-tap it. Before coming to this button, you will hear whether the book is available to borrow immediately or if it has a waitlist. If it has a waitlist, placing a hold will put you on that list, and you can borrow it once it’s your turn.
