Managing Your NNELS Account

Accessing the Account Area

The quickest way to view your account info and change account settings, is to start by clicking on “My Bookshelf”.   It can be found below the skip links, and near the top of every page, When the page loads, you will find that prior to the main content, there are three primary tabs located underneath the level 2 heading. They are “account info,” “account settings,” and “my bookshelf.” The Active tab indicates the tab you are currently on. This is also shown at the top right of the screen, just under the main menu.

When you open this tab, in the main content area, you will find the name of the organization you are associated with, how long you have been a member, and when you last accessed the site.

Account Settings Tab

Click on the “Account Settings” tab to manage your account. Here, you can change your associated email address and adjust email options, change your username and/or password, change language settings and time zone formats, and sign up for the NNELS newsletter. You will find all the settings in the main content area.

The first link you encounter is a checkbox to receive email as plain text. Plain text emails do not contain any images and styling. Check this box to enable this option.

Next is a “Current password” field. Enter your current password if you want to change the password or email associated with your NNELS account. If you forget your password, use the “Request new password” link.

To only change your email, enter the new email address but leave the “Password” and “Confirm password” fields blank.

To only change your password, leave the email field blank and enter a new password into both the “Password” and “Confirm password” fields. Passwords must be identical, in both fields.

Fill out all fields if you wish to change both your email and password. If you do not wish to change other options, you can Check the “Accept Terms & Conditions of Use” checkbox, and activate the “Save” button, at the bottom of this form, to confirm your changes.

Next is the “CALS Forms: Process Repo Item” option. Check this box to enable it.

Next you will see the “contact me by telephone” field. This is optional, so if you would like to be contacted this way, enter your phone number, otherwise you can leave this blank.

Below this is a set of radio buttons that allow you to select your language. You can choose English or French. Once settings have been saved, you will see the website and emails in the language of your choice.

After that you will see a link that allows you to hide and unhide locale, or time zone settings. If the “Locale settings” are not currently visible, click on the words “Locale settings and the time zone information will appear.

Below this link is a dropdown list where you can select the correct time zone for your location. Dates and times throughout this site will be displayed using this time zone setting.

If you have not subscribed to the NNELS newsletter and would like to do so, click on the “Sign me up for the NNELS newsletter” checkbox.

Provide a screen name if you would like to let other patrons know about your experience with a title you have read. This is the name that will be displayed on any comments you have made. If you want to be able to make comments, this is required.

Lastly, we have the “Terms and Conditions of Use”, followed by a check box and a “Save” button. To update your settings, you must select the “Accept Terms & Conditions of Use” checkbox, and then click on the “Save” button. You will be returned to the “Account Info” tab and will see a status message indicating that your changes have been saved.
