Here are some tips and tricks to help you when using iOS Voice Controls
Go to the “Reading Now” Page
Say “Go Back” from any page in the book to return to your “Reading Now” page, which lists the current book you are reading and some of the “Recent” books you have read.
Quick Scroll
To get to the top or bottom of any page, you can say, “Scroll to top” or “Scroll to Bottom”.
Closing Windows and Menus
Remember the “X” at the top of a page or window for closing.
Single Tap
If, for any reason, you need to single-tap a page, say, “Single Tap”.
Hints and Confirmation of Commands
Hints and confirmation of your commands appear at the top centre of the screen. Be aware that they only remain on the screen for a few seconds.
Show Commands
Say “Show Commands” to open the menu of all the available commands.
Using Dictation
If you want to use dictation to write a message or an email, you can enable the Dictation function. To Turn on Dictation from your Home Screen:
1. Say, “Open Settings”. The “Settings” menu will appear.
2. From the menu on the left side of the screen, say the number next to “General”, or say, “Tap General”.
3. From the menu on the right side of the page, say the number next to “Keyboard” or say, “Tap keyboard”.
4. On the “Keyboards” menu on the right side of the page, find the “Enable Dictation” button. You may have to say, “Scroll Down” to find the button further down the page.
5. To turn “Enable Dictation on or off, say the number next to it, or say, “Tap Enable Dictation”.
Some Commands, or All Commands Not Working?
From your device’s Home page, go to “Settings” > Accessibility > Voice Control, tap the button to turn “Voice Control” off, and tap it again to turn it on again. This will usually get the voice commands to work again.
